How much is the entrance fee for Irazu Volcano?
The fee is $15 for non-resident adults and $5 for children ages 2 to 12. Tickets must be purchased in advance.
Do I need to book Irazu Volcano in advance?

How cold is it at Irazu Volcano?
Temperatures at the summit drop to 41–48°F (5–9°C). High winds can make it feel colder. Bring a warm jacket and long pants.
Can you see the crater lake at Irazu Volcano?
Sometimes. The colossal main crater occasionally holds a green or turquoise rain-fed lake, but it is not always present.
What is the best time of day to visit Irazu Volcano?

Yes, Irazu is Costa Rica's highest active volcano, though it has not had a major eruption since the 1960s.
How far is Irazu Volcano from San Jose?
The national park is located about 34 miles (55 km) east of San José. The drive takes roughly 1.5 hours depending on traffic.
Do you need a 4x4 to drive to Irazu Volcano?

How long does a tour of Irazu, Orosi, and Lankester Gardens take?
Organized day trips from San José take 8 to 10 hours. This covers round-trip transport, a guide, and usually lunch.
What is there to do in the Orosi Valley?
Visitors explore coffee plantations, stop at scenic roadside viewpoints, and visit the historic Iglesia de San José de Orosi, built in the 1700s.
How much does Lankester Botanical Gardens cost?
General admission is $10 for adults and $7.50 for students and children. The site spans 26 acres.
When do orchids bloom at Lankester Gardens?
The most spectacular blooming season for the orchids is from February through April.
